Experts from academia, industry, government and private sector began a meeting in Cape Town to review the Economic Commission for Africa's (ECA) much-awaited 2013 Economic Report on Africa (ERA) which examines how African countries can make the best of their commodities through value-addition for sustainable development. The 2013 ERA report would be a landmark report which would have a real impact on Africa's development agenda. The report should problematize the relationship between growth and employment and clarify the counter-cyclical policies it is recommending...what are they? How do they work? The ERA peer review process is aimed at critically analyzing and dissecting the relevance and depth of the report and its recommendations.
