Regional conference on population and development beyond 2014-harnessing the demographic dividend : the future we want for Africa

Abstract

The ICPD Regional Conference on Population and Development Beyond 2014 will take place from 30 September – 4 October 2013 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. As part of a UN mandated review of the 1994 ICPD Programme of Action, the conference will be attended by representatives of governments from across the continent. The intergovernmental meeting will be preceded by civil society, youth and expert pre-events, scheduled from 24–27 September 2013. The pre-events will contribute to the conference which aims to achieve an African Common position in relation to taking forward the agenda of the ICPD in the 21 st Century. The outcome from the conference will contribute the ICPD Beyond 2014 Global Report and is intended to influence the global development agenda.
