Opening address by his Excellency Dr. Kassu Yilala, Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia : to the first session of the conference of African ministers responsible for trade, regional co-operation, integration and tourism

Abstract

This opening Address delivered by His Excellency Dr. Kassu Yilala Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia at the First Session of the Conference of African Ministers Responsible For Trade Regional Co-operation, Integration and Tourism. H.E. Dr. Kassu, on his remarks highlighted that, the first session of the Conference of African Ministers Responsible for Trade. Regional Cooperation, Integration and Tourism takes place against the backdrop of important changes in the world economy, with the signing of the Final Act of the Uruguay Round and the establishment of the World Trade Organization. He added on his remarks that past experiences have shown that we need a new thinking and new types of partnerships for Africa's development. Tourism has a big potential in Africa. Indeed, some of our countries draw substantial resources from this sector. On the other hand many more African countries have not been able to take advantage of the opportunities this sector offers.
