Statement Inaugurating the UN Conference Centre by K.Y. Amoako United Nations Under-Secretary-General Executive Secretary United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. Mr. Amoako, on his remarks highlighted that the United Nations is a family of organizations devoted to peace and the development of people. This conference center will be more than talk. It is an important asset for the whole United Nations System and it will be operated as such. This center will be a center for ECA and Its sister UN institutions for all the things the UN does best. This Centre, already a demonstration of the best technology for conferences, has great potential to highlight new technologies for Africa's development. Africa's states have pursued creation of this Centre for a long time. Now it is the turn of the United Nations to accept and operate this Centre for the benefit of all Africans.
