Résumé
Statement by K. Y. Amoako, UN Under-Secretary General and Executive Secretary, ECA at the Sixty Fourth Meeting of The Council of Ministers of The Organization of African Unity. Mr. Amoako, on his remarks highlighted that, the primary focus of this ordinary session is on administrative and financial matters of the OAU, the Council has always taken a keen interest in the important development issues and challenges facing the continent. Economic trends are encouraging and the prospects are generally more favorable than earlier periods, they are not enough in terms of effectively confronting Africa's development challenges. To overcome dependence on foreign resources and to avoid marginalization, the growth and development base should be extended to tap the enormous resources of the private sector.
