The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in its resolution 859(XLI), approved the draft African Charter on Statistics and requested the Commission, in collaboration with the members of the African statistical system, to: 9a) Submit the draft African Charter on Statistics for review by legal experts; (b)Take all necessary measures to submit the revised draft Charter to the Executive Council and to the Conference of Heads of State and Government for adoption; and (c) Finalize the studies on the mechanisms for implementing the Charter and to create the fund for statistical development.
