Closing Remarks by Dr. Aja Isatou Njie Saidy Vice President Minister for Women’s Affairs of The Gambia at the Eighth Africa Regional Conference on Women (Beijing +15). The Mid-Decade Review of the Implementation of the Dakar and Beijing Platforms for Action. Dr. Njie Saidy, on her remarks highlighted that, the formulation of gender awareness programmes, polices and legislative frameworks, in the adoption and domestication of international and regional covenants, and in the establishment and strengthening of necessary institutional arrangements to implement gender policies and programs. violence against women is another persisting challenge that Africa must fight vigorously: she says. The development partners, particularly the donors must also be accountable by fulfilling their commitments and help address some of the challenges highlighted. The Banjul Declaration made some concerted recommendations on how to provide more effective and coordinated action to accelerate change.
