Abstract

This issue of the Development Bulletin focuses on regional cooperation and integration in Africa, the bedrock for Africa's development, with particular emphasis on Southern African subregion. The lesson of the post-Cold War era is that the world has become so interdependent that no country, however powerful, however strong, can go it alone. In an increasingly interdependent world, intra-African cooperation and economic integration has become an imperative necessity. Thus, economic cooperation provides an opportunity for evolving a collective approach to national survival. In order to sustain such cooperation and integration, all partners must ensure that it is mutually advantageous.
