Abstract
This issue is devoted to reporting on two recent landmark events, which have given further impetus to the development of statistics in Africa. These are the 3rd African Symposium on Statistical Development (ASSD III) and the 1st meeting of the Statistical Commission for Africa (StatCom-Africa). The symposium was preceded by a regional workshop on African Purchasing Power Parities (PPPs) organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB). Key aspects of the workshop and the symposium are presented in this issue of the newsletter
