Abstract

The Symposium on the theme "Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) and the Emergence of Regional Common Markets in Africa" was organized by the Association of African Development Finance Institutions (AADFI) under the patronage of the Togolese Republic and local institutions such as the West African Development Bank (BOAD), ECOWAS Fund, Banque Togolaise de Développement (BTD), and Société Nationale d'Investissement et Fonds Annexes (SNI-FA). Held on December 8-9, 1997, at BOAD's headquarters in Lomé, Togo, the event brought together 60 participants from African financial institutions, including representatives from AFREXIMBANK, EADB, and other prominent organizations. The symposium aimed to explore the role of DFIs in fostering regional economic integration and common markets in Africa.
