The Association of African Trade Promotion Organization (AATPO) had been created in 1974 under the aegis of the E.C.A. and the O.A.U. It became fully operational in 1977 with the appointment of its first Secretary-General. The objectives of the Association were to establish contacts and organize a regular flow 'of information, communication and exchange of ideas between African countries in matters of trade as well as facilitate the economic harmonization of Africa and coordinate the trade promotion activities of the member States to promote intra-African trade. AATPO has the credit of, at least, existing and being in Tangier, Morocco. AATPO has, however, lost the enthusiasm and support of its creators, the Member States.
