The main objective of the mission was to conduct series of lectures on topical African economic development issues and challenges, to variety of constituencies, which ranged from academic staff members, undergraduate and post-graduate students of the Department of Economics, staff and post-graduate students of the Department of Political Studies, to the research staff of the Institute of Social and Economic Research. The purpose of the lectures was to enable the participants to understand and appreciate the foundations of the perennial social and economic crises in the rest of continent, contemporary development issues and challenges and some of the economic policies which have been initiated by African Governments individually and collectively to address the situation.
