Devindex Africa 1986

Abstract

This is the fourteenth issue of Devindex Africa published by the Pan-African Documentation and Information System (PADIS). The previous issues were published four times a year, but to reduce printing and distribution costs, given the financial crisis affecting the United Nations, it was decided to merge all 1800 records into a single issue for 1986. A total of 3900 records arc included in the 13 issues produced between 1980 and 1985. The following issues will continue to appear quarterly in a format that is both less costly and easier to print. A cumulative index, viii be published annually in the same format. We hope that these changes will allow us to get information to the user faster. Most of the documents reported here are unconventional or "fugitive" literature and, therefore, difficult to locate. Four other indexes follow the first subject, geographical, institutions, and author. The names of countries are represented by two-character ISO codes supplemented by codes for regions. These codes are reproduced at the end of the volume, with the corresponding country names in English and French. In the subject and geographic indexes, the codes represent the countries to which the information in the document applies. In the institution index, the code represents the country where the institution is located. The complete subject index appears in both English and French. As soon as is technically possible it will also appear in Arabic.
