Report of mission to Nairobi international development research centre : working group on gender and information and communication technology for development 6-7 November 1997

Abstract

A mission was undertaken to Kenya at the invitation of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) to participate in a brainstorming meeting with the Gender Working Group. The meeting aimed to discuss the conceptual framework for papers to be commissioned and prepared by experts, highlighting the relationship between gender and ICTs in Africa. These papers are intended for presentation at the 40th anniversary of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). Additionally, the meeting addressed the framework for incorporating gender and ICT into the IDRC project initiative ACACIA, which aims to encourage the use of ICTs in Africa to facilitate and accelerate development processes.
