The Foreign Trade Newsletter is prepared by the Trade Section of the Economic Commission for Africa. The information published has been so far almost entirely based on reports in newspapers and periodicals; the secretariat can not therefore be responsible for inaccuracies or deficiencies. It is hoped that it will be increasingly possible to publish information received directly from member states, in pursuance of the recommendation of the Standing Committee on Trade at its first session that the secretariat should be kept informed on a regular basis by individual African governments of significant developments in trade and payments.
