This opening statement delivered by Mr. Friedrric G. Seib Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme at the Seminar on Home Economics Development Planning for English speaking Countries in Africa, 6-24 March 1972. Mr. G. Seib, on his remarks highlighted that, Home Economics , as a field of scientific study through research, teaching and extension programmes, is expanding rapidly throughout the world and especially in Africa. A better knowledge of successful experience of one country or one region of the continent should be of great help to other. United Nations Organizations such as UNESCO, WHO, FAO, ILO and UNDP make important efforts in assisting African countries to, further their social and economic development. Home Economics is an important and integral aspect of such development. He said.
