This statement presented by Li Endalkachew Mekonen to the seventh session of the Economic Commission for Africa, the representative of Ethiopian delegation points out the seventh session of the Economic Commission for Africa has an importance and significance all of its own. The political position and influence in the world has been greatly enhanced by the growing members in the councils of Nations. These great achievements in the sphere of political independence have to be sustained and strengthened by economic self-sufficiency and progress. Finally, he noted that in the urgent and vital endeavor for rapid economic progress, the Economic Commission for Africa has an important role to play.
