This paper is offered as a contribution to the discussion of training for integrated rural development. It attempts to analyze some aspects of the training experience of the Rural Development College, Holte, Denmark, gained during the period 1964-1969 The integrated approach to rural development has been accepted in principle by a number of African countries, and it seems certain that more will follow suit during the next development decade. Some governments have already gone through the process of undertaking a major overhaul and readjustment of their developmental planning and executive machinery in order to mount a more comprehensive, multi-dimensional attack on their development problems involving, in some cases, the creation of a pyramid of administrative and consultative bodies for integrated action at all levels.
