Report on the activities of the African Training and Research Centre for Women including women's programmes at the ECA Multinational Programming and Operational Centers (MULPOC), 1983-1984

Abstract

This report covers the period April 1983- April 1984. The activities described have been undertaken taking into consideration the directives given by the fourth meeting of the Africa regional coordinating committee (Addis Ababa, 1983) whose recommendations were endorsed by ninth meeting of the ECA conference of Ministers (27 April- 3 May 1983) in resolution 472(XVII). The objective of the ECA women’s programme is to assist member states in the formation of policies and implementation of programmes designed to develop the capabilities of women as critical human resources for achieving national, sub regional and regional development objectives, while at the same time ensuring their equitable share of the benefits derived from development. the major functions of the women’s center are thus the provision, promotion and coordination of actions and dissemination of information for the development of women so that women of the region can participate effectively in the development process.
