Preparations for the conference and documentation report of the secretary general : report of the meeting of experts from the African region held in preparation for the United Nations Conference for the promotion of international co-operation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy

Abstract

The meeting of experts from the African region, held in preparation for the United Nations Conference for the promotion of International Co-operation in the peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy, was convened at Addis Ababa from 1 to 4 July 1985. The meeting emphasized the fact that the African region in general has yet to avail itself of the use of nuclear power for meeting its energy needs. The meeting maintained that for the African countries to benefit fully from international co-operation in the nuclear energy field, it was important that their special characteristics should be taken into account.
