Implementation of the substantial new programme of action (SNPA) in African LDCs: progress report and issues for consideration
Abstract
Twenty one out of the World's 31 least developed countries are in the African Region. Five additional countries have recently been included in the list of the LDCs by the 27th session of the General Assembly. Hence, more than 50 per cent of IDA member States are presently LDCs. Such a situation makes it necessary for the Commission to put more emphasis on the African LDCs through more active participation of its member States and its secretariat in various international fora.
