Preliminary study on non-monetary transaction in Africa

Abstract

The expression “Non-monetary transactions” is used to confirm to the revised system of National Accounts and to stress the fact that these activities take place within a non-monetary context. Non-monetary activities include not only the consumption of goods by the producers but also barter transactions of both goods and services ( the latter are of little importance). An assessment of these activities is generally made on the basis of producers prices. In this preliminary study the importance of non-monetary transactions will be studied first and then the structure, and finally the trends.
