Statistical computing within African statistic offices involved the use of mini computers and so called mainframe until very recently quite the use of statistical officer without computer facilities of their own had and some still have to compete for with others for applications on the mini computer and mainframe against such important task like payroll computing or preparation of country’s budget statistical work is according low priority mostly the statistical offices just have to delay their work until all other tasks are completed.
