This report assesses progress in institutional mechanisms for the advancement of women in Africa since the adoption of the Dakar and Beijing Declarations. It highlights achievements, such as the establishment of national gender machineries and increased gender mainstreaming efforts, but also identifies challenges, including limited resources, lack of capacity, and insufficient coordination. Recommendations include strengthening national machineries, improving gender-disaggregated data collection, and enhancing collaboration between governments, NGOs, and civil society to accelerate progress toward gender equality.
