Incorporation of environmental components into training programmes of ECA-sponsored institutions

Abstract

The principles, guidelines and strategies for the development of environmental education and training at the national, regional and international levels were established at the Intergovernmental Conference on Environmental Education held in Tbilisi, Georgian USSR, 14-26 October 1977. The Lagos Plan of Action for the implementation of the Monrovia strategy for the economic development of Africa adopted by the Heads of State and Government of the organization of African Unity in April 1980, has pointed out the priority areas of environmental concern requiring action in Africa during this third United Nations Development Decade (1980-1990).
