This paper analyzes the challenges faced by women in the agricultural sector in Africa, particularly in relation to the application of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs). It highlights the significant role women play in agriculture, producing 80% of the region's food, yet facing barriers such as weak extension services, lack of access to education, and limited access to credit. The paper emphasizes the need for gender-sensitive policies and the importance of integrating ICTs to empower rural women farmers. It discusses various initiatives aimed at improving access to information and technology, including the establishment of telecentres and the use of traditional and modern ICTs. The findings suggest that addressing the information needs of women farmers through appropriate ICTs can enhance agricultural productivity and contribute to sustainable development in Africa.en
