The statement delivered by Dr. Erika Wolf, N.P., Germany at the Regional Meeting on the Role of Women in National Development. Dr. Wolf, on her remarks highlighted that, the discussion about the legal situation of women started in Europe it time after the beginning of industrialization in the middle of the last century. The UN conventions on the political Rights of women. This convention refers to existing discrimination not only for reasons of sex, but also for reasons of race, nationality and religion. The convention concerning equal remuneration for Men and women workers for work of equal value was accepted by most European states. The gaining of equal positions for women in economic life seems to be even more difficult. The most essential aspects are the educational opportunities for women which still lag behind progress in other fields.
