Integrated approach to rural development in Ghana

Abstract

Ghana with an area of 91000sq miles had a population of 6.726 million by 1960 the present population has been estimated at 9.14 million or 35.8% i.e. an increase over a 9 year period of 2414 million or 35.8 this indicated an annual rate of growth of 3% which is one of the highest in the world. Attempts at rural development in Ghana have been the concern of the Government. Other agencies have also undertaken projects like the construction of feed roads, hospitals, health posts etc. And during the last decade in particular the Government has established a significant number of rural industries.
