The Governance and Public Administration Division (GPAD) is one of main divisions of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). The main goal of GPAD is to improve governance and development management to enhance national capacity and capability in ECA’s member states. GPAD’s operational modalities include: providing technical assistance to member states; conducting studies on major issues and problems in governance and development administration; providing technical advisory services to member states and partner institutions such as the APRM and AU/NEPAD Secretaries to strengthen policy analysis, institutions and managerial capacities. The UN’s internship programme from which the GPAD-ECA internship guidelines derive, has as main objectives; to provide experience to interning young people with a view of enhancing their educational experience through practical work assignments.
