The African Population Newsletter No. 67 (January-June 1995) provides a comprehensive overview of key population-related activities, workshops, and conferences in Africa during the first half of 1995. The newsletter highlights the implementation of the Dakar/Ngor Declaration and the Cairo Programme of Action, focusing on the roles of experts, NGOs, and international organizations in monitoring and evaluating population policies. Key events include the Abidjan Workshop (June 1995), which aimed to develop methodologies for monitoring the implementation of these declarations, and the Bamako Seminar (November 1994), which reinforced national capabilities in population policy formulation and implementation. The newsletter also covers the 49th session of the UN General Assembly, where the Cairo Programme of Action was endorsed, and discusses the need for increased financial resources and coordination among donors to support population programs.
