Abstract
This document presents draft principles for establishing a Preferential Trade Area (PTA) for Eastern and Southern African States, aiming to create a subregional common market. It outlines commitments to reduce trade barriers, ensure equitable benefits, and foster cooperation in transport and infrastructure. Proposed protocols include rules of origin, compensation arrangements, and agricultural commodity exchanges, with the goal of enhancing economic integration and cooperation in the region.
