Tunisia is located in the North Africa, on the Mediterranean coast, between Algeria in the West and Libya in the East. at the beginning of the twentieth century, Tunisia’s geology was known mainly due to the work carried out French geologists. Stratigraphical studies of central and south Tunisia now exist published between 1903 and 1912 by L. Pervinquiere together with the technical and paleo geographical studies concerning the Tunisian atlas, published in 1909 by J.Savornin. Geological activity was intensified after the discovery of the first hydrocarbon and from 1960 onward it experienced rapid development. Along with the geological survey, both a geophysical survey and drilling activity provide valued geological data on the basis of which geological and tectonically maps of the country were drawn up during the last decade.
