Action plan for implementing the axle load control programme
dc.description.abstract | The attainment of the long-term goal of a fully integrated economic space where goods, services, capital and labour move freely is dependent in large measure on the state of infrastructure in the region. The current efforts towards structural adjustment and assumption of growth at national level and the realization of African regional integration culminating in the setting up of an African economic community are therefore greatly dependent on the performance of this sub-sector in the transit transport facilitation programme. The main objectives of the transit transport facilitation programme are to: eliminate delays at border crossings by designing simple and uniform regulations for the clearance of transit cargo and vehicles; harmonize institutional and administrative policies and practices to enhance control of transit related expenses by transport enterprises through effective coordination and enforcement of regulations; harmonize the norms of Gross Vehicle Mass(GVM) and axle load limits. | en |
