Annual report 2018: Economic and Social Council official Records, 2018 supplement No. 18

Abstract

The present annual report of the Economic Commission for Africa covers the period from 31 March 2017 to 15 May 2018, and has been prepared in accordance with paragraph 18 of the commission’s terms of reference. The report was adopted at the fifty-first session of the conference of African ministers of finance, planning and economic development. The report contains highlights of the results achieved in the domain of executive direction and management, which comprises the office of the executive secretary, the strategic planning, partnerships and operational quality division, the public information and knowledge management division and the business continuity mechanism. It also presents results from the nine subprograms of the commission, which, together, constitute its program of work; the results achieved in the four thematic areas of the regular program of technical cooperation, the new partnership for Africa’s development (NEPAD) and in the development account projects; and the results achieved by the division of administration. Brief consideration is also given to the challenges faced by the commission in its work during the period and the solutions devised in an endeavor to surmount those challenges.
