Résumé
The year 2015 marked a dual transition for African countries. The adoption of Agenda 2063 replaced the New Partnership for Africa’s Development, while the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development replaced the Millennium Development Goals. That transition has underscored, among other things, the importance of an integrated approach to the implementation of internationally agreed development goals. The present report is premised on the notion that an integrated approach is vital for a successful transition and implementation of the two new agendas, which therefore warrants a good understanding of its theoretical meaning and practical application. The report’s authors urge countries to adopt an integrated approach to the implementation of international commitments. Such an approach must take into account the interrelationships among internationally agreed development initiatives and the inter-linkages among the goals, targets and indicators of each of the inter-linkages.
