Key recommendations of sessions of the regional coordination mechanism for Africa (2006-2016)

Abstract

The purpose of the annual meetings is to promote synergy and coordination among the agencies and organizations of the United Nations system, with a view to improving their collective response to meeting the priority needs of the continent and in their delivery of support to African Union organizations, for greater effectiveness and impact. RCM-Africa aims to achieve this by stepping up the joint programming and implementation of activities, operationalized through a cluster system. Another key objective of RCM-Africa is to improve cooperation and collaboration between agencies of the United Nations system and African continental organizations, such as the African Union Commission, the New Economic Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Agency, regional economic communities, and the African Development Bank.
