The 2002 African Statistical Yearbook, the twenty first issue, presents data arranged on a country basis for 53 ECA member States, generally for the years 1993 to 2001 or for the last nine years for which data are available. It is published in two volumes, with the following sub-regional arrangements.: Volume I: Part 1 - North Africa Part 2 - West Africa Volume II: Part 3 - Central Africa Part 4 - East Africa Part 5 - Southern Africa This publication, which consists the third part of volume II of this edition, covers the seven countries in Central Africa. The statistics presented in this edition of the Yearbook are, as far as possible in accordance with international recommendations and definitions. Where important deviations are known to exist, they are indicated in footnotes at the end of each country. Owing to the rounding of figures, the totals shown in tables do not always correspond exactly to the sum of their component items.
