This document focuses on the report of Tunisia: economic situation and outlook in the current transition phase. The economy of Tunisia underwent a three-phased industrialization process. The first phase, fol¬lowing independence, entailed nationalizing production units and creating heavy industry. This policy led to major investment, mainly by the State, in a bid to build a basic industrial network as a substitute for imports.
