This is the report of the Ad hoc Expert Group Meeting (AEGM) on “Climate change and the rural economy in Southern Africa”, held in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 22-24 August 2012.The main objective of the AEGM was to strengthen strategies to mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change and to sensitize and build awareness of the impact of the global warming on the rural economy in Southern Africa. The AEGM also aimed to strengthen the capacity of the subregion to
respond effectively to climate-change threats and opportunities.
