Conference of African ministers responsible for civil registration : synopsis of the regional workshop on civil registration and vital statistics systems in Africa : towards new initiatives and approaches

Abstract

The long-term objective of the workshop was to promote and strengthen the capacity of African Governments to produce accurate, reliable and timely registration-based statistics and indicators for measuring development progress and social change.The specific purposes of the workshop were to; provide training to countries on the implementation of the United Nations guidelines and international standards on civil registration and vital statistics concepts, definitions, data collection and compilation methods.
