This report attempts to respond to the mandates by presenting for wide consideration of a review of the situation of women under apartheid and racism in South Africa and Namibia within the United Nations decade for women particularly the progress made and obstacles encountered in the 1980s; an assessment of the resistance of women to apartheid and their struggle for liberation within the decade and recommendations on strategies and actions necessary to overcome obstacles encountered and to meet the needs of women beyond the decades and in post-apartheid Namibia and south Africa.
