Abstract

This paper focuses on Report on assessing progress towards the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals in Africa and the status of the MDG African Initiative 2008. This report is a response to the Heads of State and Government Decisions, during various AU Summit, requesting the African Union Commission in collaboration with the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) to prepare status reports and related statistics on the progress in Africa towards the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals. It reviews progress made by African countries towards the attainment of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and proposes recommendations on how to accelerate the attainment of the MDGs.
