Abstract
The occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) provides a valuable opportunity to recall the events leading to its birth and growth, particularly Ghana's involvement in those events, and also to assess the organization's performance and reflection on its present and future roles in the socioeconomic development of Africa.
