The purpose of the Africa 2050 report will be to chart a pathway to this goal.This note offers a preview of the report, starting with a brief historical backdrop on recent and future development in Africa. It sketches the continent's economic trajectory over the past two
decades. highlighting the trend acceleration between 1990-2000 and the preceding decade-a doubling of GDP growth per annul; presents the mega trends which will be critical to Africa's economic health and global presence; takes stock of Africa's growth potential; and explores the
issues that will shape long-term strategies for African countries.
