The role of women both historically, and in the present, in securing and maintaining peace in Uganda, and elsewhere, is almost invisible. While women have been the victims and have participated in perpetuating conflict by siding with their menfolk, and even occasionally joining armies, or guerrilla groups, they have not until very recently demanded peace, or been recorded as doing anything to achieve it.
