During the last decade the potential of women to augment the pace of national and regional development has been increasingly recognized by the United Nations and its specialized agencies and by the Governments of the States members of the Economic Commission for Africa and of other organs. This booklet is intended to give an indication of areas where action could be intensified by Governments, international agencies, bilateral aid-giving and private individuals. It comprises a consolidated list of actual recommendations made at the following conferences and seminars held in connation with activities of African women or of points frequently noted by participants in them.
