Abstract
This study will briefly examine in the first part, the concept, methodologies and networks of grass-roots development and,in the second part, describe such African experiments as have been carried out in Senegal, Rwanda, the Niger, Mali, Kenya and Tanzania. The study has been limited to these few cases which have not been considered in any great depth because of the limited documentation and time available for additional research in the field. Part three deals with the conclusions and recommendations.
