Abstract
The First Conference of African statisticians, in September 1959, briefly discussed a basic list of statistics as a frame to establish programmes of statistical development over the next five years. This list has actually been used extensively by a number of countries. It seems appropriate after four years, to review this list and revise it, if necessary in the light of requirements for further a statistical development.
