The key role which efficient marketing and distribution structures
can play in improving the food situation in Africa has been adequately
underscored i n Africa's Priority Program for Economic Recovery (APPER) and the United Nations Prograrmme of Action for African Economic Recovery and Development (UNPAAERD). In cognizance of this role, African member states are called up to establish and develop efficient marketing and distribution systems. This report on the improvement of food marketing institutions has Seen prepared by the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA),within its Work Programme and Budget for the 1983/89 Biennium, for submission to the Council of Ministers of the Yaounde-based MULFW sub-region, to assist member countries of the sub-region in this regard.
