The state of human settlements in Africa 2008 : the challenge of urban development

Abstract

This Report attempts to take stock of the current (2008) state of human settlements in Africa within the prevailing economic and social context and landscape, by examining its various elements, including the state of housing and housing services, land tenure and markets, water supply and sanitation situation, environment, including energy and climate change impacts on human settlements, human settlements planning and implementation, governance of human settlements and its effectiveness, human settlements management institutions and their capacities, financing of the development and management of human settlements.
